THE BRIEF

Retention was the real design problem.

Retention was the real design problem.

The presentation began with a simple question: how could a fitness product encourage people to come back without turning health into a noisy scoreboard? The answer had to connect business goals, social motivation, and a product experience people would actually trust.

DESIGN THESIS

Gamification only works when it serves a human loop: start, return, improve, and feel seen by the right community.

DESIGN PROCESS

From pitch deck to product logic.

From pitch deck to product logic.

01 Frame

Translate the business goal into a retention problem people could understand and debate.

02 Map

Identify the loop: join, set intent, complete an activity, compare progress, and return with social proof.

03 Prototype

Explore screens and messaging that made achievements, groups, and challenges feel useful instead of performative.

04 Refine

Edit the presentation down to the clearest argument: motivation is social, but progress has to stay personal.

STRATEGY

Four decisions shaped the product story.

Four decisions shaped the product story.

Make progress visible

Show streaks, milestones, and effort without reducing fitness to public ranking.

Use community carefully

Groups and challenges needed to create accountability, not pressure or comparison fatigue.

Tell one clear story

The deck had to connect retention, features, and interaction patterns into one argument from start to finish.

“The strongest product story was not more features. It was a clearer loop: why someone starts, why they return, and who makes the effort feel worthwhile.”

The finished presentation turns a feature-heavy concept into a product direction: social fitness that supports commitment without making every interaction performative. It gives the product a beginning, a loop, and a reason to exist beyond novelty.
